Solutions to Homelessness

As an advocate for policies which would bring an end to homelessness in Ireland, Peter McVerry Trust produces regular, evidence-based publications which provide actionable solutions to homelessness across the country.

Additionally, on a day-to-day basis, the charity is working to progress and deliver a number of solutions throughout Ireland, including housing, tailored support programmes and preventative services, which you can learn more about on this page.

The most obvious solution to homelessness is to provide more high quality, social and affordable homes. Peter McVerry Trust is a specialist provider of housing to people impacted by, or at risk of, homelessness in Ireland.

The charity is one of the fastest growing and largest providers of social housing in Ireland and currently provides housing to those in need in Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Westmeath and Wicklow.

The charity grew its housing stock by 20% to over 600 social housing units by the end of 2020 and is currently progressing housing projects in 28 of the 31 Local Authorities across Ireland.
